How to opt out of PeopleFinders

A long-running people-search site; also supplies the data behind PublicRecordsNow.

Steps

  1. Go directly to www.peoplefinders.com/opt-out (it's not linked from their homepage nav, so you have to navigate to it directly).
  2. The page will present two options — ignore the 'free dark web monitoring' upsell and choose 'Public Record Removal' instead, then click Next.
  3. On the form that appears, enter your name and email address and solve the CAPTCHA, then click 'Send Request'.
  4. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder) for a message from PeopleFinders containing a link to a 'Record Suppression Form.' This link reportedly expires after 24 hours, so act on it promptly.
  5. Click through and complete that second form with your identifying details (fields marked with an asterisk are required), then pass the final CAPTCHA and submit.
  6. Allow processing time — PeopleFinders states removal can take up to 3 days (multiple sources report it often completes within 24 hours).
  7. After a few days, clear your browser cache and search peoplefinders.com for your own name/city to confirm the listing is gone. If it wasn't removed, their customer service line is reported as (800) 718-8997 (some guides also list (877) 551-9688, Mon–Fri 6am–6pm PST / Sat–Sun 7am–3:30pm PST) — confirm the current number on peoplefinders.com/contact since that page is bot-blocked and I could not load it directly to verify.

Processing time: Up to 3 days per PeopleFinders' own statement; commonly completes within 24 hours per third-party trackers

Worth knowing: PeopleFinders explicitly states they regularly receive new public records, so a suppressed listing can reappear later and the opt-out may need to be repeated periodically. Opting out only blocks display on peoplefinders.com itself — it does not remove your data from their underlying database or from other, separate broker sites (each broker requires its own opt-out).
