How to opt out of PublicRecordsNow

A public-records search front end whose underlying data comes from PeopleFinders.

Steps

  1. Heads up: PublicRecordsNow's own site was recently rebuilt and, as of mid-2026, doesn't have a working opt-out page of its own — its footer privacy/terms links are placeholders and the old opt-out URL cited by most guides now just redirects to the homepage.
  2. PublicRecordsNow is a front-end for the data broker PeopleFinders — the same underlying records, opted out through PeopleFinders, also apply to PublicRecordsNow.
  3. Go to peoplefinders.com/manage and search using the name, city, and state on the listing you want removed.
  4. Select the listing that's you, click the opt-out option, and complete the CAPTCHA.
  5. If that route stalls, call PeopleFinders directly at (877) 551-9688 to request removal — they don't accept mail or fax requests.
  6. Allow roughly 3-7+ business days; check back on PublicRecordsNow directly once its site stabilizes, since we couldn't confirm a working direct opt-out there ourselves.

Processing time: Guides cite 3-7 business days for PublicRecordsNow itself (when its own page worked); PeopleFinders guides cite up to 72 hours to a week after their confirmation step. I could not verify current timing first-hand.

Worth knowing: Guides warn data can reappear as public records are re-indexed or PublicRecordsNow re-pulls from PeopleFinders or other sources; recheck every few months. More urgent right now: the site itself looks rebuilt or abandoned (no working contact/privacy/opt-out page as of mid-2026), so don't assume these steps stay accurate indefinitely — worth double-checking PublicRecordsNow directly if its site changes.
