How to opt out of BeenVerified

A background-check and people-search site; shares its removal database with PeopleLooker (same parent company, The Lifetime Value Co.).

Steps

  1. Go to https://www.beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts (this is the exact URL behind the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in BeenVerified's own site footer, and behind Section 18.3/19.13 of their live privacy policy — confirmed directly from beenverified.com/faq/privacy/ on 2026-07-16). If that link redirects or looks different, the same tool is also reachable via https://www.beenverified.com/app/optout/search.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, and state, then search. This searches BeenVerified's own listings, not a generic name search — it will typically surface more than one record (relatives, similar names, old addresses), so scroll and confirm you're picking the profile that actually matches your current address/age before proceeding.
  3. Click "Proceed to Opt Out" on the correct listing. On the next screen, enter an email address you can check right away and complete the CAPTCHA/"I am human" check.
  4. Watch that inbox (and spam folder) for an email from BeenVerified titled something like "Opt-Out Verification." It typically arrives within about 5 minutes. Open it and click the verification/"Verify Opt-Out" link inside — this step is mandatory; the request is not processed without it. The link generally expires within 48 hours, so don't sit on it.
  5. You should land on a confirmation page/receive a confirmation email once verified. Removal is usually applied within 24-72 hours, though some cases take up to about a week.
  6. If you have more than one listing on BeenVerified (common — old addresses, name variants, relatives with the same name), repeat the search-and-opt-out steps separately for each one; one opt-out only removes the specific record you selected.
  7. Remember BeenVerified's corporate family runs several other people-search sites (PeopleLooker, Ownerly, NeighborWho, Numberville, and others under the same parent) with SEPARATE databases and opt-out forms — removing yourself from BeenVerified does not remove you from those. Each needs its own opt-out.
  8. Because these sites re-scrape public records and third-party data brokers on an ongoing basis, your listing can reappear later even after a successful opt-out. Re-check every 3-4 months and repeat the process if a new listing shows up.

Processing time: Typically 24-72 hours after email verification; some sources report up to ~7 business days for full removal in edge cases

Worth knowing: BeenVerified continuously re-scrapes public records and third-party sources, so a removed listing can reappear; guides recommend checking every 3-4 months and re-opting-out if a new record surfaces. Also note: BeenVerified's opt-out only covers beenverified.com itself — sibling sites under the same parent company (PeopleLooker, Ownerly, NeighborWho, Numberville, etc.) each require their own separate opt-out request.
