How to opt out of CyberBackgroundChecks

A background-check and people-search aggregator.

Steps

  1. Go directly to https://www.cyberbackgroundchecks.com/removal (or, from the homepage, scroll to the footer and click 'Do Not Sell My Information' — the same link also lives in the site's Privacy Policy under section 'IV. YOUR RIGHTS'). No need to find/copy your existing listing URL first.
  2. On the first form, enter your first name, middle name (if you have one), last name, and your email address. Check the confirmation checkbox, complete the 'I'm not a robot' CAPTCHA, and click 'Send Request.'
  3. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) for a verification email from CyberBackgroundChecks. Click the confirmation link inside it — this link expires after 24 hours, so do this promptly.
  4. The link opens a second, more detailed 'record suppression' form. Fill in the requested details (email is usually pre-filled; phone number is optional but improves match accuracy for common names), complete the CAPTCHA again, and click 'Submit.'
  5. Wait for processing — most guides report removal within roughly 24 hours to 3 days via this web form (some cite up to 2-5 days).
  6. If you have a common name or have lived at multiple addresses, search the site for other spellings/variations of your name and submit a separate opt-out request for each distinct listing you find.
  7. California residents can alternatively use the CCPA-specific removal page at https://www.cyberbackgroundchecks.com/ccparemoval for stronger deletion rights under state law. There's also a slower email-based deletion-request option (per their privacy policy) that independent guides say can take 14-30 days if you prefer not to use the web form.

Processing time: Roughly 24 hours to 3 days via the two-step web form (some sources say up to 2-5 days); the alternative email-based deletion request can take 14-30 days.

Worth knowing: CyberBackgroundChecks continually ingests new public records (court, voter, property records) from government/data sources, so a successfully suppressed profile can reappear when their database refreshes — periodic re-checking and re-submission is recommended. Removing a listing here also does not remove the underlying public records or delist you from other broker sites.
