How to opt out of Whitepages

One of the largest and oldest people-search sites — often the first result when someone searches your name.

Steps

  1. Go to whitepages.com and search your own name (add city/state to narrow results if there are multiple matches with your name).
  2. Click into your specific profile listing and copy the full profile URL from the browser address bar — Whitepages uses this exact URL to identify which listing to remove.
  3. Go to whitepages.com/suppression-requests (the official removal-request form) and paste the profile URL into the field, then click Next.
  4. Select a reason for removal from the dropdown menu when prompted.
  5. Enter your phone number when asked — Whitepages verifies identity via an automated phone call (not email), so you must answer that call in real time and enter the verification code it gives you.
  6. Submit the request. Allow 24-48 hours for the listing to be removed; if you have more than one listing (common if you've had multiple addresses), repeat this whole process separately for each one, since there's no bulk-removal option.
  7. Recheck periodically (e.g. every few months) by searching your name again — Whitepages pulls in new public-records data on an ongoing basis, so a removed profile can be repopulated over time.

Processing time: 24-48 hours after phone verification (one source says "up to 24 hours")

Worth knowing: Whitepages continuously re-ingests public-records and other data, so a profile can reappear later even after successful removal — this isn't a one-time fix, it needs periodic rechecking. Also note: removing a listing from the standard/free directory does not remove or affect any separate "Whitepages Premium" background-check record.
