How to opt out of Advanced Background Checks

A background-check and people-search aggregator.

Steps

  1. Go to advancedbackgroundchecks.com and scroll to the footer; click "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" (lands on /do-not-sell, their Record Removal Request form) — or go there directly.
  2. Enter your email address in the Record Removal Request form, check the authorization/agreement checkbox, complete the CAPTCHA, then click the blue "Begin Removal Process" button.
  3. On the next screen, search for your own listing using first name, last name, and city/state or zip code (age is an optional filter that helps narrow results if you have a common name).
  4. Find your matching profile in the results and click "View Details" to open it.
  5. On the detail page, click the "Remove My Record" button under your name/listing.
  6. Check the inbox of the email address you provided for a confirmation message from Advanced Background Checks; open it and click the confirmation/removal link to finalize the opt-out.
  7. Save or screenshot the confirmation for your records. Because the site continually re-imports public records, plan to re-check your name periodically (e.g., every few months) and repeat the process if a new listing appears.

Processing time: Site states records are typically removed within 24 hours, with an outside claim of up to 72 hours after the confirmation email link is clicked.

Worth knowing: Advanced Background Checks' own opt-out notice states their data comes from public records they regularly re-collect, so a removed profile can reappear later; they explicitly recommend periodically refreshing/repeating the opt-out request. Removing yourself from this site also does not remove your data from other broker sites or from the original public-record source.

Optery submits and tracks removal requests like this one automatically across 380–635+ sites, and re-checks on a schedule since brokers re-list data over time. Free plan shows you what's out there before you pay anything.
