How to opt out of TruePeopleSearch

A free, no-signup people-search site — no paywall on viewing basic listings.

Steps

  1. Go directly to https://www.truepeoplesearch.com/removal (or from the homepage, scroll to the footer and click 'Do Not Sell My Personal Information', which links to the same removal tool).
  2. On the removal page, enter your email address, check the box(es) agreeing to the terms, and complete the hCaptcha/'I am human' verification, then click 'Begin Removal.'
  3. You'll be taken to (or returned to) the normal People Search: enter your first name, last name, and state (city helps narrow results) and run the search to find your own listing.
  4. From the results, click into the specific profile that matches you (click 'View Details' if needed) — if you have more than one listing (common with old addresses or name variants), you must repeat removal separately for each one.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of that profile page and click the 'Remove This Record' button to submit the opt-out request for that listing.
  6. Check the email you provided (including spam/junk folder) for a confirmation message from TruePeopleSearch.com, and click the confirmation link inside it within 24 hours — the request is not processed until you confirm.
  7. Wait up to 72 hours for the listing to be removed, then search your name again on the site to verify it's gone. Repeat the whole process for any other listings found, and periodically re-check every few months since new public-record data can cause you to be re-listed.

Processing time: Up to 72 hours after email confirmation (email confirmation link expires in 24 hours)

Worth knowing: TruePeopleSearch re-aggregates data from public records/data brokers on an ongoing basis, so a removed listing can reappear after weeks/months if a new record surfaces. Guides recommend re-checking periodically (e.g. every few months) and re-submitting removal if your listing comes back. Also: if you have multiple listings (common with prior addresses/name variants), each one must be found and removed separately — one removal doesn't clear all your records.
