How to opt out of US Search

A background-check brand in the PeopleConnect family, sharing suppression with Intelius and TruthFinder.

Steps

  1. Go to the official USSearch suppression portal: https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=USSearch (this is run by PeopleConnect, the company that owns USSearch, Intelius, and Classmates; you can also reach it by scrolling to the footer of ussearch.com and clicking "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information").
  2. Enter the email address you want associated with the removal request, then check that inbox and click the verification link PeopleConnect sends you.
  3. On the next step, enter your current legal name (first/middle/last) and date of birth — this is used to search their database for matching listings.
  4. Review the list of matching profiles that comes back and select the one(s) that are actually you. If your name matches multiple people, look carefully (age, city, relatives listed) before selecting — you don't want to submit removal for a stranger's near-identical record, and you DO need to select every record that is genuinely you.
  5. Choose a verification method (email or SMS text) and enter the one-time code you receive to confirm you're the person requesting removal.
  6. Click the delete/suppress button ("Delete My User Data" or similar) to submit the request, then open the final confirmation email and click "Confirm" to finalize it.
  7. If you found more than one listing for yourself in step 4, repeat steps 3-6 for each additional record — USSearch requires a separate suppression request per profile.
  8. Mark your calendar to recheck ussearch.com by searching your own name again in 3-6 months, since USSearch periodically refreshes its database from public records and data partners and a suppressed listing can reappear.

Processing time: A few weeks for the listing to actually disappear from search results, even though the online submission itself only takes 5-10 minutes (some guides cite 7-14 days as a typical window).

Worth knowing: USSearch/PeopleConnect periodically refreshes its data from public records and partner feeds, so a successfully suppressed profile can reappear later — multiple guides recommend re-checking every 3-6 months and repeating the opt-out if it comes back.
